The GrandMothers of Invention
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention released their first album Freak Out! back in 1966, the start of a storied career for the band. Rather than allow the music of Frank Zappa to fade from the public eye once the master passed away, alumni from The Mothers of Invention formed The GrandMothers of Invention in August 2002.
Napolean Murphy Brock, Tom Fowler and Don Preston were part of The Mothers of Invention and proudly play music from three different Zappa eras as The GrandMothers of Invention. Since these artists actually played with Frank Zappa they are able to go far beyond just simply covering the music. This band brings that era back to life, delivering awesome performances in the process.
